Weddings galore

Hrm..I've been meaning to blog about the weddings, but now that they're so long over, I didn't really wanna post anything anymore...but they were both great, things went smoothly and i had a great time at both of them.

Di's wedding was lovely. It was a beautiful day but not too hot (at least for us wearing strapless dresses!). The day began really leisurely at like 10am when we started to get ready, but after that it was just one thing after another. I'm sure Di's blog about the day is much more complete. I'll just say some of my thoughts....jumping in heels for a photo 3 times is not fun and boy, we saw julian & di had to make out a LOT that day. :) Let's see...what else? it's not a good idea to snack too much between the ceremony & the reception...cuz i didn't have any room for the yummy food at the banquet! And never ever ever sit at a table with good friends when there's open-mike toasting! I can't believe everyone pointed at me! And then the DJ ignored my vigorous head shaking and "no no no no no"'s and still handed me the mike! Talk about feeling totally on the spot. Of course, I don't remember a thing I said...but afterwards, all these GREAT things that i SHOULDA said kept popping into my head. Ah well. I also realized that it's really fun to be a bridesmaid...sometimes it gets boring when you're just a guest cuz there's so much downtime, but as part of the wedding party, there's never a dull moment. :) The dancing was surprisingly fun too. People really got onto the dance floor and had fun...i think the wine really helped with that. :P

Mimi's wedding was also beautiful. The day before was pretty hectic with getting nails done, picking up wedding dress and then prepping their house for the rehearsal dinner. It turned out really nice. The decorations were great, with candles & tiki torches...it was quite hawaiian. But it was pretty chilly once the sun set, so everyone huddled in the house. :) The day of was CRAZY busy...not a moment of rest. Got up at like 7am to get hair done in downtown SJ salon...then back at 10am to change into dresses and myron & the groomsmen came at 10:30 and the 4 attendants (MoHs & BMs) had to give them a hard time and refuse admittance into the house. So we asked myron to come up with 9 things he'll do to make mimi happy after their married. A couple of good ones were...take her on a trip every year, make her breakfast in bed on weekends (the exact wording is under dispute), and acknowledge that the woman is always right! Then we made them do a song & dance. They sang "My Girl"...and...well...it was a nice effort. And it was all caught on tape. hee hee Then we grabbed some breakfast at my house while myron & mimi formally received my parents' blessing (i wasn't watching, too busy eating). Then off to the church for the ceremony which was Looooooooong! At one point in the ceremony, it finally hit me that my sister was married and she really was a beautiful bride...and i got all teary-eyed and sniffly. then we went up to SF for a tea ceremony at myron's family's place with all his relatives and we got to have lunch. :) then pics in SF which was freezing cold. And finally the banquet...where i had to sit at the head table and there was a video camera trained on us the whole night for ppl sitting upstairs. I didn't have time to get nervous about the speech at all until the moment i had to give it and then i kept my eyes trained on mimi & myron (or at least in their general direction) and didn't look at the crowd at all. and i got thru it w/o a problem. whew! then i helped mimi change twice and ppl kept on asking me logistical questions that i didn't have answers to. heh...so i started making things up. Oh yeah..the food was really authentic chinese...and i broke out in hives the next day..but it wasn't very bad. Afterwards, some ppl went to the sports bar at m&m's hotel to chill and so the newlyweds could finally get something to eat. I went cuz I guess i didn't want the night to be over...kinda felt a bit sad to be seeing my big sis start her new life.. *sniffle* oh yeah, unfortunately, i didn't have much time or energy to take pics, so i'm gonna have to wait to see other ppl's pics of the wedding!
